Applications for the M Phil Programme

Admission requirements
Students must have graduated (minimum of 65% GPA) with either:

  1. An Honours degree or equivalent in literature, fine arts, philosophy and / or social sciences, or
  2. A relevant Honours degree (or equivalent) that has given them a background in the creative and performing arts, sciences, planning, engineering, economics, education, or law.

Prospective applications will be assessed in October, prior to the official UCT admissions deadline of 31 October. Please send the following application materials to by 9:00 am on 15 October 2015.

  • CV
  • a transcript
  • a cover letter describing why you wish to study in this area
  • a 750-1000-word description of a research interest or specific project that links with Environmental Humanities South
  • ​the names of three referees together with their telephone numbers and email addresses.

Applications will be evaluated competitively by a selection committee and announcements will be made by 30 November 2015.
