Applications for the M Phil Programme

Admission requirements
Students must have graduated (minimum of 65% GPA) with either:

  1. An Honours degree or equivalent in literature, fine arts, philosophy and / or social sciences, or
  2. A relevant Honours degree (or equivalent) that has given them a background in the creative and performing arts, sciences, planning, engineering, economics, education, or law.

Please include with your official UCT application the following documents in addition:

  • CV
  • a transcript
  • a cover letter describing why you wish to study in this area
  • a 750-1000-word description of a research interest or specific project that links with Environmental Humanities South
  • ‚Äčthe names of three referees together with their telephone numbers and email addresses.


Applications will be evaluated competitively by a selection committee.
